Getting Started

Welcome to Applicay Software Development! With the PhotoPanel app, you can display images from Apple Photos. This manual will help you set up and configure the app.

When you first launch the app, you'll be asked for permission to access your photo library. Choose "Allow Full Access" (to be able to select all available photo albums later) or "Limit Access..." if you want to allow access only for selected albums or photos.

You can adjust photo access later in "Settings→Apps→PhotoPanel".

Your privacy is important: The app uses your photos exclusively for display and never transfers them to the internet.

After that, you'll see the start screen. Place your finger on the screen for at least 0.5 seconds to open the settings.

The settings can be opened at any time (even during an active slideshow) by pressing and holding your finger on the screen. Before we look at the other settings, you should first select a photo album. If you're not yet familiar with Apple Photos or creating albums, you can find more information in the iPhone User Guide.

The next time you open the app, the slideshow will start automatically with your last settings. Remember, you can access the settings dialog at any time by pressing and holding.

Selecting Photo Albums

Select an album that contains photos you want to view:

View existing albums: Tap "Select Albums". In the following dialog, you will see all albums in your photo library.

Select album: Tap on an album to select it.

Filter selection (optional): If you have many albums, you can search for albums in the text field with the magnifying glass.

After selecting an album, you will be back in the settings dialog. Tap "Apply" to start the slideshow.

You can also select albums that you have shared with other people. If new photos are added to an album while the slideshow is running, this is detected by the app and the photos are seamlessly integrated into the display. For more information on shared albums, see the iPhone User Guide.

Select multiple photo albums

Select Use multiple albums if you want to display photos from different albums. The albums will then be shown one after the other. If you have enabled Random playback, the next photo will be randomly selected from all chosen albums.

This option requires more storage space than using a single album. Several functions have been implemented to ensure the app runs reliably in this mode. When applying settings for multiple albums, please allow a few seconds for the albums to initialize and the first photo to appear.

Display Settings

Customize the display of your photos according to your preferences:

Display of landscape and portrait images

Tap on » to select the display option for landscape or portrait images:

Do not display – Images will be skipped.
Display full screen – Image completely fills the screen, parts may be cropped.
Show full image – The entire image is shown, black bars may appear.
Full image with blurred background – The entire photo is displayed, with a blurred background instead of black bars.

Display Duration

Set how long each photo is displayed (5 seconds to 12:59 hours).

Playback Order

Choose between random or sequential display.

Hide Menubar

Hides the top menu bar.

Start with capture date and location

The recording date and, if available, the capture location are displayed immediately when the app is restarted or the screen saver is terminated.

Transitions

Choose one of three effects for the transition between photos.

Clock Display

Optionally show a clock over your photos. If activated, you can additionally select the size and position of the clock.

In the Apple Photos app, you can manually set the order of your pictures. When viewing them sequentially, you can choose whether they are shown by capture date (oldest first) or in the order of the album.

Live Photos

This section lets you configure how Apple Live Photos are displayed. Live Photos combine a still image with a short video clip, and the following options let you control their playback behavior.

Activate Live Photos

Enable or disable the display of Live Photos in your slideshow.

Play Once

Only play each Live Photo once instead of repeating it.

Playback Interval

Set the interval between Live Photo replays (1–10 seconds).

Mute Sound

Mute the sound of Live Photos during playback.

Live Photos are only available for images taken with supported Apple devices. If no Live Photos are found, this feature will be ignored.

Screen Saver

Unfortunately, an app under iOS cannot completely turn off the screen. Instead, the screen turns black and the screen brightness is reduced to a minimum. When the screen saver is deactivated, the original screen brightness is restored.

If you select "Activate Screen Saver", additional options will be displayed:

Start Time

Set the times when the screen saver automatically turns on.

End Time

Set the times when the screen saver turns off.

When the screen saver is active, it can be deactivated at any time by swiping up. Note, however, that the screen saver will then be inactive and must be manually activated again in the settings dialog.

Navigation During Slideshow

Tap once to bring up the toolbar.

If you don't perform any action, the toolbar will automatically disappear after 10 seconds. You can perform the following actions:

Visual Lookup

The "Visual Lookup" feature allows you to tap and learn more about objects, animals, and plants.

When you click on the icon, the image will be analyzed and symbols will appear on the picture, for example, a paw print for pets or a leaf icon for plants and flowers. Tap the symbol to learn more.

While a symbol for an object is being displayed, navigation via swipe gestures is disabled. Wait a moment until the symbol disappears automatically. If no object was detected, no symbol will appear. The following objects can be recognized:

Landmarks and architectural highlights
Artworks and statues
Plants and flowers
Animals
Books (cover and content reference)
Foods and dishes with suggested recipes
Places / points of interest from photos or web images
Symbols / icons, e.g., vehicle icons in cars or household, with explanations

Photo recognition is performed exclusively on your iPad or iPhone. Photos are never uploaded to the Internet. For results, Siri Knowledge and information from the Internet are used. This feature is only available starting with iOS 16.

Share Photos

This feature allows you to share the currently displayed photo via Mail, iMessage, or AirDrop. Click the Share Icon icon to open the share dialog.

Show EXIF Data

EXIF data are additional information automatically stored in a photo by a camera or smartphone. These include, for example, date and time of capture, camera model, exposure time, aperture, ISO, focal length, and often the location via GPS. When you click the icon, the date and time of capture will be displayed. If GPS data is available, the location of capture will also be shown. Click again to hide the EXIF data.

If the location data (as shown in the example) is displayed, you can view the exact position of the photo in Apple Maps. To do this, simply tap once on the text box containing the location information.

Select "Open Maps" to view the exact location in Apple Maps.

Clock and Settings

With the icon, you can toggle the clock on or off without opening the settings dialog. With the icon, the settings dialog is opened.

Additional Gestures

While the images are displayed, the following actions are possible:

Long Press

Long press to call up the settings dialog

Swipe Left

Show the next picture

Swipe Right

Show previous image

Double Tap

Displays the date and location (if available). This information is read from the photo's EXIF data.

Tips for Best Experience

Follow these tips to get the most out of your digital photo frame:

Device Stand

Use a device stand to position your iPhone or iPad at the optimal viewing angle.

Power Source

Connect your device to a power source for extended use.

Guided Access

Enable Guided Access to prevent accidental exiting of the app.

About Guided Access

Guided Access restricts access to a single application. This setting is ideal if your iOS device is to be used exclusively as a digital photo frame. This helps prevent errors for users who are not experienced with iOS.

How to activate Guided Access is explained in the iPhone manual under Use Guided Access with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Pro Tip: Create a shared album for your loved ones that all invitees can post photos to. Use Guided Access to secure your iPad or iPhone against incorrect operation. This gives you a digital photo frame whose images are constantly updated.

Erste Schritte

Willkommen bei Applicay Software Development! Mit der App Digitaler Bilderrahmen können Sie Bilder aus Apple Fotos anzeigen. Diese Anleitung hilft Ihnen bei der Einrichtung und Konfiguration der App.

Beim ersten Start der App werden Sie um die Erlaubnis gebeten, auf Ihre Fotomediathek zuzugreifen. Wählen Sie "Vollen Zugriff erlauben" (dann können Sie später alle verfügbaren Fotoalben auswählen) oder "Zugriff begrenzen..." wenn Sie den Zugriff nur für ausgewählte Alben oder Fotos erlauben möchten.

Unter "Einstellungen→Apps→Bilderrahmen" können Sie den Zugriff nachträglich anpassen.

Ihre Privatsphäre ist uns wichtig: Die App nutzt Ihre Fotos ausschließlich zur Anzeige auf Ihrem Gerät und überträgt sie niemals ins Internet.

Danach sehen Sie den Startscreen. Halten Sie den Finger mindestens 0,5 Sekunden auf den Bildschirm, um die Einstellungen zu öffnen.

Die Einstellungen können jederzeit (auch während einer laufenden Diashow) durch einen längeren Fingerdruck geöffnet werden. Bevor wir uns die anderen Einstellungen ansehen, sollten Sie erst einmal ein Fotoalbum auswählen. Wenn Sie noch nicht mit Apple Fotos oder der Erstellung von Alben vertraut sind, finden Sie weitere Informationen im iPhone Benutzerhandbuch.

Wenn Sie die App beim nächsten mal öffnen, startet die Diashow automatisch mit den letzten Einstellungen. Denken Sie daran, dass Sie jederzeit durch einen längeren Fingerdruck den Einstellungsdialog aufrufen können.

Ein Fotoalbum auswählen

Wählen Sie ein Album aus, dessen Fotos angezeigt werden sollen:

Vorhandene Alben anzeigen: Tippen Sie auf "Album auswählen". Im folgenden Dialog werden Ihnen alle Alben Ihrer Fotomediathek angezeigt.

Album auswählen: Tippen Sie auf ein Album, um es auszuwählen.

Auswahl filtern (optional): Wenn Sie viele Alben haben, können Sie in dem Textfeld mit der Lupe nach Alben suchen.

Nachdem Sie ein Album ausgewählt haben, befinden Sie sich wieder im Einstellungsdialog. Tippen Sie auf "Übernehmen", um die Diashow zu starten.

Sie können auch Alben auswählen, die Sie mit anderen Personen geteilt haben. Wenn zu einem Album neue Fotos hinzugefügt werden, während die Diashow läuft, wird das von der App erkannt und die Fotos bei der Anzeige nahtlos integriert. Mehrere Fotoalben auswählen

Wählen Sie Mehrere Alben verwenden, wenn Sie Fotos aus verschiedenen Alben anzeigen möchten. Die Alben werden dann nacheinander angezeigt. Haben Sie Zufällige Wiedergabe aktiviert, wird das nächste Foto aus allen gewählten Alben zufällig ausgewählt.

Diese Option benötigt mehr Speicherplatz als die Verwendung eines einzelnen Albums. Es wurden umfangreiche Funktionen implementiert, damit die App in diesem Modus zuverlässig funktioniert. Wenn Sie die Einstellungen für mehreren Alben übernehmen, kann es ein paar Sekunden dauern, bis die Alben initialisiert und das erste Foto angezeigt wird.

Anzeigeeinstellungen

Passen Sie die Anzeige Ihrer Fotos nach Ihren Wünschen an:

Anzeige von Querformat- und Hochformat-Bildner

Tippen Sie auf » um die Anzeigeoptionen für Bilder im Querformat oder für Bilder im Hochformat aufzurufen:

Nicht anzeigen – Bilder werden nicht angezeigt
Bildschirmfüllend anzeigen – Bild füllt den Bildschirm komplett aus, Teile können abgeschnitten werden.
Ganzes Bild anzeigen – Das gesamte Bild wird angezeigt, schwarze Balken sind möglich.
Ganzes Bild mit Blur-Hintergrund – Das ganze Bild wird angezeigt, anstatt schwarzer Ränder erscheint ein unscharfer Hintergrund.

Anzeigedauer

Stellen Sie ein, wie lange jedes Foto angezeigt wird (5 Sekunden bis 12:59 Stunden).

Wiedergabereihenfolge

Zeigen Sie Fotos nacheinander oder in zufälliger Reihenfolge an.

Menüleiste ausblenden

Blendet die obere Menüleiste aus.

Mit Aufnahmedatum und -ort starten

Wird die App neu gestartet oder der Bildschirmschoner beendet, werden das Aufnahmedatum und (wenn vorhanden) der Aufnahmeort direkt eingeblendet.

Übergänge

Wählen Sie einen von drei Effekten für den Übergang zwischen den Fotos aus.

Uhranzeige

Zeigen Sie optional eine Uhrzeit über Ihren Fotos an. Wenn diese Option aktiviert ist, können Sie zusätzlich die Größe und die Position der Uhr auswählen.

In der Apple-Fotos-App kann die Reihenfolge der Bilder manuell festgelegt werden. Wenn die Bilder nacheinander angezeigt werden, lässt sich wählen, ob sie nach Aufnahmedatum (älteste zuerst) oder in der Reihenfolge des Albums angezeigt werden sollen.

Live Photos

In diesem Abschnitt können Sie konfigurieren, wie Apple Live Photos angezeigt werden. Live Photos kombinieren ein Standbild mit einem kurzen Videoclip. Die folgenden Optionen steuern das Wiedergabeverhalten.

Live Photos aktivieren

Aktiviere oder deaktiviere die Anzeige von Live Photos in der Diashow.

Nur einmal abspielen

Jedes Live Photo wird nur einmal abgespielt, ohne Wiederholung.

Wiedergabe-Intervall

Lege das Intervall zwischen den Wiedergaben eines Live Photos fest (1–10 Sekunden).

Ton stummschalten

Der Ton von Live Photos wird während der Wiedergabe stummgeschaltet.

Live Photos sind nur für Bilder verfügbar, die mit unterstützten Apple-Geräten aufgenommen wurden. Wenn keine Live Photos gefunden werden, wird diese Funktion ignoriert.

Bildschirmschoner

Eine App unter iOS kann den Bildschirm leider nicht komplett ausschalten. Stattdessen wird der Bildschirm schwarz und die Bildschirmhelligkeit auf ein Minimum reduziert. Wird der Bildschirmschoner beendet, wird die ursprüngliche Bildschirmhelligkeit wieder hergestellt.

Wenn Sie "Bildschirmschoner aktivieren" auswählen, werden weitere Optionen angezeigt:

Startzeit

Legen Sie die Zeiten fest, zu denen der Bildschirmschoner automatisch eingeschaltet wird.

Endzeit

Legen Sie die Zeiten fest, zu denen der Bildschirmschoner ausgeschaltet wird.

Wenn der Bildschirmschoner aktiv ist, kann er jederzeit durch eine Wischgeste nach oben beendet werden. Beachten Sie aber, dass der Bildschirmschoner danach inaktiv ist und erneut manuell im Einstellungsdialog aktiviert werden muss.

Navigation während der Diashow

Tippen Sie einmal, um die Toolbar aufzurufen.

Wenn Sie keine Aktion ausführen, blendet sich die Toolbar nach 10 Sekunden wieder aus. Sie können folgende Aktionen ausführen:

Visuelles Nachschlagen

Die Funktion "Visuelles Nachschlagen" ermöglicht es per Fingertipp, mehr über Objekte, Tiere und Pflanzen zu erfahren.

Wenn Sie auf das Symbol klicken, wird das Bild analysiert und es werden im Bild Symbole eingeblendet, zum Beispiel ein Pfotenabdruck-Symbol für Haustiere oder ein Blattsymbol für Pflanzen und Blumen. Tippen Sie auf das Symbol, um mehr zu erfahren.

Während das Symbol für ein Objekt angezeigt wird, ist keine Navigation per Wischgeste möglich. Warten Sie einen Moment, bis das Symbol automatisch ausgeblendet wird. Wenn kein Objekt erkannt wurde, wird kein Symbol angezeigt. Folgende Objekte werden erkannt:

Sehenswürdigkeiten und architektonische Wahrzeichen
Kunstwerke und Statuen
Pflanzen und Blumen
Tiere
Bücher mit Titel- und Inhaltsbezug
Speisen und Gerichte mit passenden Rezeptvorschlägen
Orte/Points of Interest aus Fotos oder Web-Bildern
Symbole/Icons, z. B. Fahrzeugsymbole im Auto oder Haushalt, mit Bedeutungserklärungen

Die Erkennung der Fotos wird ausschließlich lokal auf Ihrem iPad oder iPhone ausgeführt. Fotos werden niemals ins Internet geladen. Für die Ergebnisse wird Siri-Wissen und Wissen aus dem Internet verwendet. Diese Funktion ist erst ab iOS 16 verfügbar.

Bilder teilen

Diese Funktion ermöglicht es, das aktuell angezeigte Foto per Mail, iMessage oder AirDrop zu teilen. Klicken Sie auf das Symbol Share Icon , um den Teilen-Dialog aufzurufen.

EXIF-Daten anzeigen

EXIF-Daten sind Zusatzinformationen, die eine Kamera oder ein Smartphone automatisch in einem Foto speichert. Dazu gehören z. B. Aufnahmedatum und -uhrzeit, Kameramodell, Belichtungszeit, Blende, ISO, Brennweite und oft auch der Aufnahmeort per GPS. Klicken Sie auf das , wird das Aufnahmedatum und -uhrzeit eingeblendet. Sind GPS-Daten vorhanden, wird auch der Aufnahmeort angezeigt. Klicken Sie erneut, werden die EXIF-Daten wieder ausgeblendet.

Werden die Ortsdaten (wie in dem Beispiel) angezeigt, können Sie sich die genaue Position der Aufnahme in Apple Maps anzeigen lassen. Tippen Sie dazu einmal auf die Textbox mit der Ortsangabe.

Wählen Sie 'Karten Öffnen', um die genaue Position in Apple Maps anzuzeigen.

Uhr und Einstellungen

Mit dem Symbol können Sie die Uhrzeit ein- oder ausblenden, ohne den Einstellungsdialog aufrufen zu müssen. Mit wird der Einstellungsdialog aufgerufen.

Weitere Gesten

Während die Bilder angezeigt werden, sind folgende Aktionen möglich:

Rechtswischen

Zeige vorheriges Bild

Doppeltippen

Anzeige von Aufnahmedatum und Aufnahmeort (wenn vorhanden). Diese Angaben werden aus den EXIF-Daten eines Fotos ausgelesen.

Tipps für die optimale Nutzung

Befolgen Sie diese Tipps, um das Beste aus Ihrem digitalen Bilderrahmen herauszuholen:

Geräteständer

Verwenden Sie einen Geräteständer, um Ihr iPhone oder iPad im optimalen Betrachtungswinkel zu positionieren.

Stromquelle

Schließen Sie Ihr Gerät für längere Nutzung an eine Stromquelle an.

Geführter Zugriff

Aktivieren Sie den geführten Zugriff, um ein versehentliches Beenden der App zu verhindern.

Über den geführten Zugriff

Beim geführten Zugriff (auch Kiosk-Modus genannt) wird der Zugriff auf eine einzige App beschränkt. Diese Einstellung ist ideal, wenn ihr iOS-Gerät ausschließlich als digitaler Bilderrahmen verwendet werden soll. Bei Anwendern, die sich mit iOS nicht so gut auskennen, wird hiermit eine Fehlbedienung effektiv verhindert.

Profi-Tipp: Erstellen Sie für Ihre Liebsten ein geteiltes Album, in das alle Eingeladenen Fotos posten können. Verwenden Sie den geführten Zugriff, um ihr iPad oder iPhone gegen Fehlbedienung zu sichern. Somit haben Sie einen digitalen Bilderrahmen, dessen Bilder ständig aktualisiert werden.
